From 20 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, Jawai is at its coolest and clearest, and the holiday week is the most asked-for time of the year. Ring in 2027 with a sunrise drive in the granite hills.

On festival dates the price is per gypsy, not per person: with 6 guests a ₹5,500 drive works out to about ₹916 each. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the safari.
Why go at this time
- Peak winter: crisp, clear mornings with sunrise drives at 6:00 AM and sunset drives at 3:30 PM. Open gypsies are cold at dawn, so bring a warm jacket, a cap and gloves.
- Winter birds are at Jawai dam: flamingos, pelicans and cranes, which the birds and crocodile safari covers.
- The holiday week fills first. Online booking shows exactly how many gypsies are left for each drive and confirms instantly.
A simple plan
- 31 December: The last sunset drive of the year at 3:30 PM, back in time for dinner.
- 1 January: Start the year with the sunrise drive at 6:00 AM.
- Any day: Add the birds, crocodile and leopard safari at 8:00 AM for the winter birds at the dam.

Where to stay
Book rooms as early as your safari. Jawai Heaven, our own resort near Jawai dam, has eight rooms: two tents with private plunge pools, a tent cottage and five stone cottages. Festival-date room rates are quoted on WhatsApp. Economic and Standard stay + safari packages are not offered on festival dates; Luxury and Ultra-luxury stays are quoted on request.
Getting here

Sunrise drives start at 6:00 AM and sunset drives at 3:30 PM, each about 3 hours. Your booking confirmation shows the exact time.
Do I need to book early?
Yes. Festival dates fill before other weeks. The table on this page shows how many gypsies are left for each drive, and an online booking is confirmed instantly.
Can I pay an advance?
Yes. For sunrise, sunset and combo safaris you can pay an advance online and the rest (₹2,500 per gypsy per drive) to your driver at the safari, or pay in full online.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the safari. Within 48 hours there is no refund.
Are leopard sightings guaranteed?
No. Jawai's leopards are wild and free-ranging, so nobody can promise a sighting. Our local drivers and trackers know the hills well.
